Andrew Farner Owner/Founder, Lead Coach

Founder/Owner

Lead Coach: Vampire Squid Yellow

Lead Coach: Kraken 2 (K2)

Andy is the Owner of SlipStream Aquatics and is extremely proud to lead a team that is inclusive to everyone.  As SSA continues to grow, it is Andy's vision and direction that sustains a culture of individualization, inclusion, excellence, and community difficult to find elsewhere in club swimming.  At meets, you are likely to see and hear Andy supporting not only his own kiddos but any/all SSA swimmers in the water.

Andy has been coaching since 2003 at the club, high school, and summer league levels.  He has coached many kids of all ages and abilities during his 20+years of coaching.  His dedication to the sport of swimming at all levels has been recognized, and he continues to excel as the Swim and Dive Coach at LHS (Women's/Men's teams).

When he is not on the pool deck, Andy enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, attempting to still play basketball, watching movies, and eating oreos or ice cream!  He is thrilled to work with so many great coaches and swimmers!

Alejandro Barin SSA Head Coach

SSA Head Coach

Lead Coach: Colossal Squid

Lead Coach: Kraken Elite (KE)

Coach Alex started swimming year-round for the Jersey Storm at 11 years old after his doctor told him it would help cure his asthma. After moving to South Carolina, he continued his swimming career with Ridge View High School and on Clemson's club team. He was a multi-sport athlete through middle school and high school, running track and playing lacrosse along with swimming.

He started his coaching career in 2009 for his summer league team and, after college, went into club coaching with the YMCA of Columbia Swim Club. Over the 8 years with YCSC, he helped grow the Northeast site from 50 to 150+ swimmers and coached swimmers of all ages and abilities. He has had the honor of coaching numerous swimmers at the State, Regional, Sectional, and Y-National level. He also started a local Masters Swimmer program for the YMCA, the Soda City Swarm.

Alex is a swim nerd in and out of the pool, always learning, talking, and applying new techniques in the evolving sport. He also works at SwimLabs - Highlands Ranch, where he gets to spread the joy of the water. He is a big proponent of building a positive team culture through discussing the mental aspects of training, supporting friendly competition, and keeping the sport fun! It is his passion to develop kids not just as athletes but as good people!

Outside of swimming, Alex enjoys anything related to sports, food or the music scene. If he's not near a pool, he is most likely hanging out with his wife, Macy, and their Golden Retriever Nola.

He is stoked to lead SSA and help our swim community grow into one of the best clubs in Colorado!

Christina Kwon SSA Mental Performance Coach, Lead Coach

SSA Mental Performance Coach

Lead Coach: Giant Cuttlefish

Lead Coach: Colossal Squid

Coach Christina has over 25 years of coaching experience and over 10 years of competitive swimming experience. She was a multi-sport athlete from elementary school through high school, ultimately choosing to focus on swimming in college. As a coach, she aims to help each swimmer become the best version of themselves while developing a lifelong love of the sport. She has coached swimmers of all abilities from developmental to Junior National qualifiers, and many of her swimmers have gone on to compete at all levels of collegiate athletics.

Christina recently completed a Master's degree in Kinesiology with a focus in Applied Sport Psychology at Adams State University. Through this program, she developed tools for performance excellence that support building trusting relationships, well-being, autonomy, confidence, and focus. Her approach supports individual development, not only as a performer, but as a whole person.

Before joining SlipStream, Christina coached for nine years as an age group and senior level coach at ACES Swim Club, two years as an age group/senior/masters coach with CAC Stingrays, and six years as the Head Coach for the Castle Pines Storm Swim Team (MHSL). Her expertise has been recognized on numerous occasions, including the selection as a coach for the Colorado Age Group Camp, the Colorado All Star Team, the Colorado Zone Team, USA Swimming's Western Zone Diversity Select Camp (2022), and USA Swimming's National Diversity Select Camp (2023). She just finished her 13th season as the Head Coach for the Highlands Ranch High School Boys' Swim & Dive Team.

Her first coaching position was in 1998 as an assistant coach with the summer league team where she first learned to compete.

Off the pool deck, Christina loves to read, seek out new boba tea places, test out new recipes, and is a busy mom to two very active boys (who are also proud SlipStream swimmers). Christina lives in Parker with her husband Tim, and sons Theodore and Gabriel.

Madison Hulst Lead Coach

Lead Coach: Cuttlefish White

Assistant Coach: Cuttlefish Red

Coach Maddie began swimming with the Wildcat Ridge Tigersharks at 10 years old and swam summer league on and off until high school, where she swam all 4 years for the Rock Canyon Jaguars and loved every minute.

She was Head Coach of the Tigersharks from 2018-2022 (taking the summer of 2020 off, unfortunately). With the Tigersharks, Coach Maddie won the championship meet in 2021, but the award she is most proud of is the Sportsmanship Award that same season. David Conrad Lead Coach

Lead Coach: Vampire Squid White

Coach David started competitive swimming when he was 14 as a freshman in high school in Florida, and quickly fell in love with the sport. David competed each year on the Varsity Team and went to the Florida State Championships 3 years straight. He picked up multiple school records, both individual and relay, in the process. His favorite events are the 100 Free and 4x100 Free Relay.

David started volunteer coaching for his local summer swim team when he was 15, and took over as head coach when he was 17. He continued to coach his summer swim team until he was 20 and won the small division championships 3 years in a row. After graduating from the University of Florida with his Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering degree in 2009, David and his wife, Kelly, moved to Maryland, where he joined the Chesapeake Bay Aquatic Club as the Bronze (10&U) age group coach and sent the club’s first-ever 10&U swimmer to the Maryland Short Course Championship meet. While in MD, he also coached St. Mary’s Ryken High School and had multiple swimmers compete in Metros. In 2014, David and Kelly moved back to FL, and David coached for Clay High School. He only coached Clay High for 2 years, until he moved to CO in 2016. While coaching Clay High, the boys' team placed 3rd and the girls' team placed 7th at the Florida State Championships, the highest the girls' team had ever placed.

By the time David and Kelly had moved to Colorado, they had a set of 18 month old Twins, and soon to have a third on the way. David and Kelly decided to take a break from coaching and focus on their family. Now that the twins are 9, it’s time to get back on the pool deck!

In his spare time (which he has very little of these days), David enjoys everything CO has to offer. Hiking, camping, fly fishing, Mtn Biking, and Snowboarding. Also big on the family’s activity list is Travel!

David is very excited to be part of the Slipstream Community and is looking forward to working with everyone!
